How We Work
Set Me Free is a small brand — intentionally.
Most pieces are made on pre-order, with small drops a few times a year. I don’t produce large quantities or seasonal excess. Making only what is needed keeps production controlled and reduces waste.
Everything begins with hemp.
Hemp is strong, breathable, and naturally low-impact. It grows quickly, needs little water, and doesn’t rely on pesticides. In a warm climate like Mauritius, it makes sense — light, durable, and softening beautifully over time.
I work closely with the fabric manufacturer and have visited the workshop where the garments are sewn. I know the people behind the pieces and have seen how they are made.
The clothing is produced in a small atelier in India, led by a woman and run by skilled tailors supporting their families. At times, I also work with local tailors in Mauritius for small runs and adjustments, keeping part of the production close to where the pieces are worn.
Our socks were originally made in Ukraine and our underwear in Lithuania, reflecting my initial intention to keep production close to home in Europe. As life evolved and we stayed longer in Mauritius, the brand evolved too — but long-term partnerships remain important.
The underwear is made from TENCEL™ Lyocell, derived from responsibly sourced wood pulp and produced in a closed-loop process. All fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified and safe against the skin.
Packaging is simple and recyclable or biodegradable.
Set Me Free is built on making fewer, better pieces — designed to be worn often and kept for years.
