Hemp

A fibre that makes long-term sense.

Hemp is one of the oldest textile fibres in the world. Strong, breathable, and naturally resilient, it has been used for centuries for everything from sails to garments.

We chose hemp not because it is fashionable, but because it performs, lasts, and respects the land it grows in.

In a world of synthetic blends and short-lived trends, hemp feels clear.

Why Hemp?

Grows quickly
Requires little water
Does not rely on pesticides
Helps maintain soil health
Naturally breathable
Exceptionally durable
Softens beautifully with wear

Hemp doesn’t need much interference. It grows, it strengthens the soil, and it becomes stronger with time.

Hemp Compared

When choosing a fabric, context matters. Here is how hemp compares to commonly used materials:

Fabric
Water Use
Chemicals

No fibre is perfect. But hemp offers one of the most balanced combinations of durability, low impact, and long wear.

Why Hemp Works in Mauritius

Living in Mauritius changes how you experience clothing.

Heat, humidity, and strong sun demand fabrics that breathe and protect.

Hemp:

Allows airflow
Absorbs moisture without clinging
Holds its shape
Softens without thinning
Wears in, not out

It feels grounded on the skin — structured, but never heavy.

How We Use It

We work with trusted partners to source our hemp fabrics and have personally visited the workshop where our garments are made.

Production happens in small runs, often through pre-orders. This allows us to avoid excess and focus on quality.

Some pieces are also produced in collaboration with local tailors in Mauritius, keeping part of the process close to where the garments are worn.

Hemp is not just a material choice for us — it shapes how we work.

Caring for Hemp

Hemp is low maintenance.

Wash cool
Use mild detergent
Air dry when possible
Wear often

The more you wear it, the softer it becomes.

Fewer, better pieces. Made to last.
